Charles Lewis Leeling was born in VanBuren county, Iowa, February 17th, 1856, and died at Kirtley, Wyoming, February 7th, 1922, being 65 years old. He leaves five boys and two sisters besides a number of nephews and nieces to mourn his departure. He had not been very well for some time, but was not bedfast, and on the day of his death he seemed to be feeling better than usual, as after eating a hearty dinner, he expressed a desire for exercise and went to the wood pile to saw some stovewood, where death suddenly overtook him.

Mr. Leeling came to Sioux county with two of his brothers in 1888, but the past three years made his home with his brother, S. J. Leeling, of Kirtley.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the W. O. W. hall conducted by Rev. Gordon of Van Tassell and he was laid to rest in the Pleasant Ridge cemetry.
