She married Christ K. Peterson (aka Krist Kristenson Ese). Spellings and even names varied, as with many Norwegian immigrants and their children. Christ's parents were also born in Norway. Christ's father was my grandfather Olai Fjerstad's cousin.
Mary and Christ moved to SD and had six children: Lulu E., Helen C., Ruby L, Claude A., Glenn L and Donald L. Peterson. Christ died in 1921; and his father continued living with the family until he died in 1925.
Mary remarried a widower neighbor whose wife died in 1923, Enoch O. Berge. She helped him raise his children: Williard, Leroy and Lorraine.
