Everett E. Learmont, Service Number 66074, was from South Meriden, Connecticut. He was originally a member of Company L, 102d Connecticut Infantry, from Meriden, Connecticut on August 14, 1917. As a private with Company L, 102d US Infantry, 26th "Yankee" Division, 51st Infantry Brigade, AEF, he was “accidentally shot” and severely wounded in February, 1918. He was slightly Wounded In Action, July, 1918 and severely Wounded In Action Oct. 30, 1918 from shrapnel behind the lines during his medical evacuation that same day. (Art Nankervis' published post-war memoir, Meriden Morning-Record, Oct. 23, 1968) He subsequently Died Of Wounds Nov. 10, 1918. His body was returned to Meriden where he was buried and re-interred in Arms Cemetery with his parents and three year-old brother.
