Mrs. Avis M. Lemaster, 53, of Hanna, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at La Porte Hospital.
She was born April 6, 1953, in La Porte County to Russell and Darlene (Coil) Long, and graduated from South Central High School. She had worked as a certified nursing assistant at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in La Porte for 17 years, and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah.
Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie (Johnny) Heitkamp of LaPorte, Theresa (Joe) Hammons of Amelia, Ohio, and Elizabeth (Marc Rogers) Lemaster of Hanna; six grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Ashlen, Alexander, Nicholas and Jaden; and special friend, Terry Smurdon.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah, the Rev. Jerry Schweitzer officiating with burial at Hanna Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 5 to 7 p.m. at Wanatah Funeral Chapel.
