Lucy Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cameron was born to Thomas Cameron and Nannie Paralee Lever in Choctaw County, Mississippi. She was named after her two grandmothers, Lucy Harvey Cameron and Elizabeth Smith Lever. Her mother died when she was a small child (burial unknown) and she and her siblings were reared by their Lever relatives. Her father remarried and had another child but I am not sure if she lived with them. They all moved to Texas circa 1880s, and she married James Edward Mershon in 1887 in Montague Co., Texas, and they had eight children. Four died of diphtheria, according to granddaughter Avis. The four surviving children were Stella, Hilda, Lucile and Glen. Lucile died at age 17 from seizures. The Mershons moved to Oklahoma in the 1890s possibly. James Edward died in Feb. 1902 in Indian Territory, according to his sister. His burial place is unknown. His daughter Lola once wrote in a letter her father died of dropsy. Elizabeth remarried April 12, 1916 in Comanche County, OK, to William "Doc" Lemaster, the widowed father of four daughters. They lived in Oklahoma, Arizona and Colorado before moving to California. Elizabeth died of circulatory failure due to coronary sclerosis. She was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery, according to her death certificate. No grave marker was purchased for her. Doc's daughters buried him in another California cemetery.
