HAMPTON - Miriam 'Mimi' Wood LeDeaux, 73, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Sentara CarePlex Hospital. Mimi had lived on the Peninsula for the last 43 years, and retired from teaching from the Hampton City School System, She loved to travel, especially to Spanish Wells in the Bahamas and to the Outer Banks. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Lt. Col. John Kenneth Barry LeDeaux in 2004, Mimi is survived by her son, John Robert LeDeaux and wife, Amy, of St. Louis Mo.; daughter, Celeste Wells and husband, Danny, of Newport News, Va.; two grandchildren, Shira and Benjamin LeDeaux, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Lillian Crawford for the care she has given Mimi and the whole family for so many years. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 179 E. Mercury Blvd., in Hampton. The inurnment will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Va. at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Duke University Eye Center, DUMC Box 3802, Durham, NC 27710. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave., Hampton.
