BEAUFORT,S.C.--Mary Genevieve Lawton Bateson, 86, died March 15 at Bayview Nursing Center.
She was born in Geneva, Switzerland. She was a resident of Beaufort County for 45 years and had worked at The Island Shop for 15 years. She attended Pape School in Savannah and attended the University of Georgia. She was the widow of Richard Humphreys Bateson.
SURVIVORS: a son, Leslie L. Bateson of Bluffton; and three grandchildren.
Services will be private.
