Faith Ann Slayton Bontrager, 47, of Elkhart, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord, Tuesday morning at I.U. Health Indianapolis.

She was born June 12, 1967 in Elkhart to Devon P. Lawrence and Barbara (Rouch) Brogdon.

On March 9, 2015 she married Steve Bontrager in Goshen.

He survives along with her father and step-mother, Devon and Kay Lawrence, of Goshen; her mother, Barbara Brogdon, of Granger; two daughters, Autumn (Clayton) Cook, of Bristol, and Sydney Slayton, of Elkhart; a step-daughter, Breanna Bontrager, of Goshen; a step-son, Jeremy (Heather) Bontrager, of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; a grandson, Graham Cook; a step-granddaughter, Vyktoriya Green; a sister, Tamra (Dave) Grosse, of New Paris; two step-sisters, Kimberlie Jagger, of Cromwell, and Kimberlie Porter, of Indiana; a brother, David Lawrence, of Mishawaka; and three step-brothers, Andy Hill, of New Brighton, Minnesota, Ed Hill, of Evansville, and Walter Brogdon, Jr., of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Richard and Dean Allen Brogdon and a step-sister, Misty Clemens.

Faith was a member at Prairie View Missionary Church, Goshen. She worked as a service technician for Comcast until 2004. She recently had been Assistant Chaplain for the women's division at the Elkhart County Jail, where she encouraged and helped many.

Faith enjoyed scrap-booking, shopping and couponing, reading novels and listening to contemporary Christian music. She was a very creative cook, producing original breads, jams and relishes. Faith loved people and never met a stranger.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015. Rev. Phil Jerome of Prairieview Missionary Church will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
