A native of the Colrain, Mass., she was born in the Griswoldville section on May 28, 1919, a daughter to Charles H. and Lena (Shulda) Lawrence. She moved with her family as a young child to Greenfield, Mass., where she attended local public schools, graduating from Greenfield High School in the Class of 1938.
Madeline retired from the former Millers Falls Tool Company in 1981, following 30 years of employment as a steel stamper in the manufacturing department.
She was a devout communicant of Holy Trinity Church. Madeline enjoyed traveling, flowers and vegetable gardening and was an avid cross word puzzle enthusiast.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Leon A. Gagne Sr., whom she married on Aug. 21, 1941, in Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield, Mass.
Survivors include her loving and devoted children, Leon A. "Buzz" Gagne and his wife, Betsy, of Penacook and Yvonne A. Cali and her husband, Vincent, of Jacksonville, N.C. Madeline is lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren, Christopher Cali, Cristina Palmaymessa, Jock Gagne, Holly McGonagle and Chessa Noelle, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Crista and Cassidee Cali and Justice and Benjamin Gagne, in addition to several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
