Hans married Ane Marie Sorensen, Sophie's sister and lived on the Andreas Sorensen estate for 3 years. After some differences of opinion with the landlord, they decided to move elsewhere. They farmed a farm near Dane School near Gardner--farmed there a few years. Then sold out and moved to Gardner. He went into a partnership in a garage, then bought it out and was sole owner until his health gave out. Then he did odd job, paper hanging, painting, plumbing, carpenter, handy-man and antique repairs until his death from Multi-miloma. After they left the Sorensen estate farm in 1910, Charles moved there and where 6 children were born.
