SHIRLEY JEAN LASHMIT, 50, of Charlevoix, died Jan. 29, 1997, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Funeral was 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Barnard United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bernard Griner officiated. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Lashmit was born March 26, 1946 in Cheboygan, Mich., the daughter of Jonas and Ruth (Snider) Burkhart. She was raised in Pellston and graduated from Pellston High School in 1964.

On March 6, 1965, she married John E. Lashmit in Petoskey. They made their home in the Charlevoix area for the past 31 years.

Mrs. Lashmit worked as a secretary for the Charlevoix Senior Center for 10 years. She also worked at the Belvedere Club for the Brewster family.

She enjoyed gardening, feeding birds and bowling. She was a member of the Street Legends Car Club, and the Young at Heart Bowling League.
