Laura Jane was raised in the Lutheran church but changed to the Methodist church following her marriage. Her husband, James R. Blakemore, was treasurer of the Bridgewater Methodist Church for forty years.
Laura Jane Lantz Blakemore had a thyroid ailment for many years. Her death from a heart attack in 1930 was said to have been brought on by the thyroid condition. Her husband died six years later in 1936.

Bridgewater. March 21.—Mrs. James R. Blakemore, a native and beloved resident of Bridgewater, died at her home here this evening at six o'clock from a complication of diseases coupled with heart trouble. She was 77 years of age.
Before marriage Mrs. Blakemore was Miss Laura Lantz, the daughter of Christian and Lydia Lantz. She was a member of the Bridgewater Methodist church and was a fine Chritian woman of many sterling qualities. Both she and her husband, one of Bridgewater's leading citizens, have taken an active interest in church work for many years.
Surviving here are her husband, and four children, Forrest Blakemore, Mrs. E.J. White and Mrs. Clyde C. Peters, all of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. S.C. Stickley, of Front Royal; and three grandchildren, Garold White and Geneva Peters, of Harrisonburg, and Louise Stickley, of Front Royal.
Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with the Rey, E.A. Wiloher, her pastor officiating.
Interment will be in the Bridgewater Cemetery.
