Angeline was born on May 9, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Elma Lantagne. As a young girl she lived in the Riverland area on the family farm. On November 12, 1935 she married her soul mate Lawrence. They had a double wedding with her brother Art and wife Jeanette Lantagne. Lawrence and Angeline had 8 children and 64 wonderful years of marriage. Angeline was a homemaker. She loved having babies around and babysat for many. She loved to cook and their home was the meeting place for family members to gather and eat, especially on Sundays for homemade buttermilk pancakes. Her baked beans were always a must for any family celebration and her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls were delicious. The grandchildren and great grandchildren called her me-me' which is French for grandma.
Angeline is survived by a total of 100 plus; including three sons, Art (Elaine), Dale (Sue) and Dwayne "DJ" (Myra) LaMarche all of Escanaba; son in law, Jerome Jacques of Waukesha WI; three daughters, Margie (Sid) Milkiewicz of Stonington, Kathy (Joe) Karl and Judi (Dick) LaCosse of Escanaba; 25 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; one brother, Edward (Lena) Lantagne; two sisters- in- law, Elaine and Jeanette Lantagne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; son, Leonard in 2001; daughter, Darlene Jacques in 2013; great granddaughters, Jalyn Jo Krueger in 2007 and Harlie Jeanee' DesArmo in 2013; two sisters, Fidel LaFave and Pearl Levesque; four brothers, William, Ned, Art and Archie Lantagne.
Angeline or Angel was the queen of the family and will be missed and loved always by her family and friends.
Visitation for Angeline Mae LaMarche will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba from noon to 3 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Rick of St. Thomas Church officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba.
