SNELLVILLE - Mary Ruth Lanier Dodd, 82, died March 9 at her daughter's home in Snellville. She was a native of Bulloch County, and had lived in Statesboro until 1986 when she moved to Snellville. She was a graduate of Statesboro High School and attended Shorter College on a music scholarship. She was a violinist for the First Baptist Church of Statesboro. She was president of the Statesboro Garden Club, the Music Club and the women's auxiliary of the Statesboro American Legion. She was the widow of Albert Sydney Dodd Jr.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Albert Sydney III of Henderson, Nev. and Rodolf L. Dodd; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Deanna Prosser of Snellville, Pam and Kit Jones of Hillsboro, Ill., Debbie and Alan Tyson of Statesboro, Dancy and Jim Burgess of Middletown, Ohio and Lulie Anne Dodd of Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home, Statesboro.

FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Sunday at Statesboro First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
