Mary J. Anderson, 84, of Sedalia, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1922, in Lincoln, Missouri, a daughter of John Monroe and Mary Ruth Gorrell Langston. On August 8, 1941, she married Albert R. Anderson, who died July 15, 1970.
Mrs. Anderson was an active member of First Baptist Church, past president of 4-H Community Leadership Council, past president of Pettis County Extension Council, a member of Pettis County Parent Teacher Association, a member of Jolly Elders and volunteered at Bothwell Regional Health Center gift shop. She owned and operated Hughesville Café in the early seventies for about six years, and ran Anderson Family Restaurant stand at the Missouri State Fair for 25 years. She had lived in the Pettis County area since 1936.
Surviving are a son, Albert L. Anderson, and his wife, Sharon, of Sedalia; a daughter, Mary Louise Anderson, of Sedalia; a brother, Winston Langston, of Brunswick, ME; two sisters, Stella Ball, of Sedalia, and Cora Little, of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Nikkie Hill, Christopher Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Amanda Taber, Kevin Anderson, T.J. Hayworth and Regina Hayworth; and eight great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, John Alan Anderson, and one in infancy; and four brothers, John Langston, James Langston, Robert Langston and Tommy Langston.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Marlin Brown, Wayne McMullin, Kenny Nolan, Lloyd Shireman and Bill Wall.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
