He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Thomas Garrett Laney and Thuman P. Laney; and two sisters, Margaret Thela Gibson and Mattie Pauline Shumate.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Laney and Jeff Laney; and three sisters, Hazel Inez Hartley, Opal Irene Proffitt and Katherine E. "Kate" Harder.
