Friends Pay Tribute
to Mrs. Laura Hoppe

Funeral rites for Mrs. Laura Hoppe, who died the previous Tuesday at a Norfolk hospital, were held in Creighton on Friday afternoon from the Hengstler & Son Chapel at 1:30 and at the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock. Rev John B. Roe officiated at the service.

Numerous friends assembled to pay a fitting tribute to the deceased and the huge floral display were manifestations of esteem from her many friends. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery beside her husband, who preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Cecil Carder, Otto Schroeder, Chas Zepf, Robert Ganz, Clark Kimble and Raymond Nejedly.

Laura Landon Hoppe was born at Pleasant Valley, Colfax county, Nebraska on April 11, 1870 and died at Norfolk on June 24, 1941 at the age of 71 years, two months and 13 days. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Colfax county. On February 24, 1889, she was united in marriage to Fred Daniel Hoppe of Lena, Ill. To this union one son and three daughters were born. A daughter, Delia, passed away in 1918.

Mrs. Hoppe with her husband resided on a farm at Scribner until 1915, when they moved to Creighton and farmed for nine years. Retiring in 1924 the couple moved to town and purchased a comfortable home. Seven years later the union was separated with the death of Mr. Hoppe. Since that time, Mrs. Hoppe continued her residence here, until death summoned her.

Mr. Hoppe was a woman of cheerful disposition and her many kind acts and deeds while she was living will be a lasting memory not only to the family, but to the many friends she made.

Mourning her passing are the one son, Fred of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Jake Diedrichsen of Bayard and Mrs. E.O. Boll of Scribner; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Hassen of Dodge, Mrs. August Rose of Ekalaka, Mont., Mrs. Henry Rose, Oakley, Calif, Mrs. Claus Stolenburg, Dodge; two brothers, Claus and George Tiedmann of Dodge.
