Clarence F. "John" Lair, 84, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 1:51 AM at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

He was born November 5, 1927 in Decorra, IL, the son of David B. and Clara E. Tracy Lair. In November of 1952 he married Mary Jeanet Sandrock. She died October 4, 1987. On September 16, 1988 he married Bonnie Gibb.
Mr. Lair was a graduate of the Dallas City High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 35 years. He retired as Lockmaster at Lock and Dam #13 in 1982.
He was a member of the Fort Madison Moose Lodge, Dallas City American Legion and the Lomax Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie, 1 daughter, Karen (Jim) Clough of Alpha, IL, 2 sons, Greg (Laura) Lair of New Boston, IL and Fred (Julie) Lair of Clinton, IA, 1 step-daughter, Sheila (Larry) Sly of Lomax, 2 step-sons, Charles "Dick" (Erin) Gibb of Dallas City and Randy (Becky) Gibb of Lomax, 9 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 16 step-great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Edith Robinson of Monmouth, IL, 1 brother, Richard (Alice) Lair of Fort Madison, IA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, his parents and his step-father, William Dustman. Burial will be held at a later date at the Crane Cemetery near Lomax.
