At a charming party given by Mrs. Fred Lafferty, Wednesday afternoon the engagement of Miss Alice Lafferty and Mr. William Barrett was announced.
Miss Lafferty is one of Hillsboro's attractive and talanted young ladies, and Mr. Barrett has made good, both in his college work at the O.S.U. and his chosen profession of electrical engineer. At the present, he has a good position with a big electrical firm in Columbus.
The wedding will occur at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Nelson B.Lafferty on October 17th.

Mrs. Alice Lafferty Barrett, 83, of Columbus, died early Sunday morning at Doctors' Hospital, North Columbus.
She was a former resident of Hillsboro.
She was born July 16, 1887, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Dr. Nelson Lafferty and Catharine Holmes Lafferty.
She is survived by her husband, William Mitchell Barrett; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Helen) Sumner of Tipp City and Miss Katherine Barrett, at home; one sister, Mrs. Ellis E. West of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
She was a member of the Morgan Memorial United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10 A.M. Tuesday at the Leach and Son Funeral Home in Columbus with Rev. Thomas Adshead officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday.
Friends may call at the funeral home between 2 and 4 P.M. and 7 and 9 P.M. Monday.
