Funeral services for Thelma Kyle Watson, 94, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Forest Grove Christian Church at Forest Grove with Rev. James Mantooth and Rev. Charles Salmon officiating. Burial followed in the Forest Grove Cemetery. She died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
Mrs. Watson, a lifelong resident of the Forest Grove Community and Lexington, was born Oct. 22, 1907 in Milam County to O.A. and Alice (Alford) Kyle. She and Alva O. Watson were married Dec. 11, 1925 in Rockdale.
Mrs. Watson, a homemaker, was a member of the Eastern Star, Grand Ruth from 1977 to 1978, and served as officer for many years and as instructor for new members; a member of the Forest Grove Christian Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher; and was very active in schools and activities with her children.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aug. 23, 1981; sons, Homer Watson and James O. Watson; grandchildren, Fritcher Baby Girl and Gina Quinney; great-grandson, Sean Thigpen; five brothers, William Hurst Kyle, T.J. Kyle, James Kyle, Harry Kyle and Gene Kyle.
Surviving are: Daughters, Mona Watson Haack and husband Jack of San Antonio, Myrtie Alice Fritcher and husband Bob of Lexington and Elaine Quinney and husband Amos of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Frances Butler Watson of Odessa; grandchildren, Margaret Slagle, Homer Watson III, Gary Haack, Melanie Thigpen, Jennifer Boubel, Terry Fritcher, Timothy Fritcher and Trina Edwards; great-grandchildren, Jordon Rundgren, Kyle Watson, Aaron Watson, Josh Haack, Liana Haack, Jason Thigpen, Tara Thigpen, Sydney Boubel, Zachry Boubel, Preston Dorman, Grayson Fritcher and Timothy Edwards; great-great-grandchildren, Cassedy Watson, Jakeb Watson and Hannah Watson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Margaret Slagle, Homer Watson III, Gary Haack, Melanie Thigpen, Jennifer Boubel, Terry Fritcher, Timothy Fritcher and Trina Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Family nephews.
