Florence Eleaner Nelson Kunz, 97, wife of the late L. Delbert Kunz, passed away April 8, 2012, in the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful.

She was born Dec. 29, 1914, in Border, the daughter of Lillian Tregaskis Nicholls and Fred Nicholls.

Florence was educated in Border and Cokeville, schools and graduated from high school is 1932 as salutatorian of her class, receiving a four-year scholarship to the University of Wyoming. Funds didn't permit her taking advantage of that scholarship. She had a great love of learning and passed that on to her posterity.

She married James Lowell (Bish) Nelson in 1934 and they were blessed with two children, Norma Lee Brooks Collins (1935) and James Ronald Nelson (1937), both born in Cokeville. She and Bish were divorced in the early forties.

Shortly after Ron's birth they moved to Montpelier, where Florence resided until she met and married the love of her life, L. Delbert Kunz, in June, 1952. They lived on the ranch in Alton until retiring and moving to Montpelier in 1962. She resided there until moving to Kaysville in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Lee Brooks Collins and her husband of Seattle and her son, James Ronald Nelson and his wife of Kaysville, nine grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and nine great-great- grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Gillespie Nicholls, wife of James Milton Nicholls.

In addition to her husband, Dell, she is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters (William Henry, Clara Louise, Frederick Albert, Clarence Richard, Lillian Montana, James Milton, Orville LeRoy, and Ernest Ray).

Funeral services will be held in the Montpelier Third Ward LDS Chapel on 340 North Sixth Street, Montpelier at 1 p.m. on April 14. Friends may call prior to services from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
