Jean and her twin brother Joseph were born on February 4, 1929, in Petoskey, MI, the daughter of Stanley and Cecile (Stearns) Smith. She was raised in Alanson on the Smith Family Farm and gradated from Alanson High School in 1948.
On September 1, 1948, Jean married Homer Kuebler in Alanson and lived in many places until they made their home in Alanson. While raising their 6 daughters, Jean went to work as a Bus Driver for Alanson Schools. She then received a Clerical Degree from North Central Michigan College in 1981 and went to work at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene, as a secretary as well as the church board secretary. Following her retirement from the church, she and Homer joined MMAP, Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, and together they traveled for 10 years building and renovating churches and buildings.
Jean's greatest love was spending time with her family and taking care of them. Over time she cared for many other people as well, helping and caring for them as they needed.
She was a member of the Alanson Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed making and decorating cakes as well as being an artist and a poet.
