At Rest Anton F. Kriz
A cloud of sadness was cast over this community last Wednesday when word came from Omaha that Mr. Anton F. Kriz had answered the call of his maker and passed to the great beyond.
Mr. Kriz was held in the highest respect by all in this community and was a friend to everyone. He was always willing to help a friend when in need and was [a] great worker for the good of the community in which he lived. He was a lover of music and was one of the mainstays in the Dodge Community Band and his presence will be greatly missed from that organization as well as by his many friends in and around Dodge.
Anton F. Kriz was born on the 14th day of June, 1867 on a ship on the Atlantic Ocean on American waters, and at the age of 57 years, 4 months and 15 days, on Wednesday October 29, 1924, after an illness of a few weeks he answered the last summons, while at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha.
After landing on American soil his parents located for a time in Chicago and later in Omaha and in 1870 located on a farm in Dodge County where he grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Miss Elnora Jakl on August 26, 1888, to which union was born three children. Mr. and Mrs. Kriz moved to Dodge in July, 1916 where he spent the rest of his days in retirement and making his family and others happy.
Mr. Kriz is survived by his beloved wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mary (Elhard) Janecek and Miss Rosie and one son, Vincent. Four brothers, Joseph and Alois of Dodge, Charles of Howells and Jerome D. of Salt Lake City, Utah, and one sister Mrs. Anna Pimper of Howells. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. lodge and the Tel. Jed. Sokol and also the Dodge Community Band.
The funeral services were conducted at the residence at Dodge last Friday afternoon, October 31st, 1924, by the Rev. Philippi of Clarkson. The remains were laid to rest in the Bohemian National Cemetery.
We join in with this community in extending sympathy and condolence to all those in sorrow.
