LA CRESCENT, Minn. — Naomi "Babe" R. Becker, 96, of La Crescent, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Golden Living Center in La Crescent. She was born in Berlin, N.D., on Jan. 1, 1913, to Andrew and Rosina (Larson) Koontz. She married Herbert M. Becker at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hokah, Minn., on Oct. 25, 1930. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Babe was a member of both St. Peter's Catholic Church and The Church Of The Crucifixion women's circles. She was also a member of the Hokah Homemakers Club. For several years, she had worked at the Bodega Restaurant in La Crosse where she was well known for her baking, especially her apple pies. Naomi was a gracious giving person who always put the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her four daughters, Irene (Peter) Suchla of New Berlin, Wis., Marian (David) Tepp of La Crosse, Janet (Russel) Ideker of Hokah, Minn., and Dorothy (Curt) Gilbert of La Crescent; one son, Herbert J. (special friend, LuAnn) Becker of La Crescent; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Herbert, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent. The Rev. Greg Havel will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah.
