Dorothy M. (Konczak) Bennett Sausman, age 86, lifelong resident of Duluth, joined her loving husband Friday, February 3, 2012, while at Edgewood Vista.
She was born July 3, 1925 in Duluth, to Paul and Emma Konczak. On May 6, 1961 Dorothy married Donald Sausman.
Dorothy was a foster mom for 30 years and raised over 30 foster children besides her seven children. She was a meticulous housekeeper and took great pride in her home and her family. Dorothy was always eager to help anyone in need.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2001; a son, William; a grandson, John; two great-grandchildren; her parents; three brothers, Thomas, Ronny and Bernard; and a sister, Betty Amic.
She is survived by her children, Earl (Nancy) Sausman, of Eveleth, Donald Sausman, of Eveleth, LeRoy (Linda) Sausman, of Gilbert, Gary (Judy) Bennett, of Aurora, Bruce (Claudia) Bennett, Duluth and Linda Salo, of Gilbert; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Florence Konczak and Peggy Byrns; many nieces, nephews, foster children and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista-Glen's Place and Sara McCumber for their thoughtfulness and caring. Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Hospice.
