Helen Ann Lord, 78, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Regional Hospital in Topeka. She was born May 31, 1932 at Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances Rilinger Kokenge. She attended St. Peter and Paul Schools in Seneca.
Mrs. Lord was an excellent homemaker & cook. While her children were growing up she was a stay at home Mom and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and later worked at the Rossville Valley Manor. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Raymond Kokenge, a son-in-law, Rex Stapel and a brother-in law, Charles Warner.
On January 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to Leo Noel "Buck" Lord at the Washington County Courthouse in Washington, Kansas.
Survivors include her husband Leo Noel "Buck" Lord, Rossville; a son, Micheal Leo (Laura) Lord, Willard, daughters, Donna (Bill) Miller, Beatrice, NE, Susan Lee Stapel, Meriden, Cindy Kay (Jim) Sweany, St. Marys and Debbie Diane Lord, Rossville; her brother, Elmer Kokenge, Rossville; two sisters, Sister Geraldine Kokenge, Concordia, and Lorene"Peggy" Warner, Pembroke, MA; 7 grandchildren Christine Gallegos (Sweany), Matthew Noel Stapel, Michelle Sweany, Rachel Lord, Jeff Miller, Lisa Miller, and Kristy Miller and 6 great-grandchildren Freddie Gallegos, Faith Ann Gallegos, Floyd Gallegos, Aaliyah Miller, Jordan Miller, and Ava Miller.
Mrs. Lord will lie in state from 1 until 2 P.M. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. Private graveside services and burial will be at the Rossville Cemetery.
