The Gridley Herald, Gridley, California, 24 Jan 1975, Fri • Page 4: EMMA ANNA HUGHS. Emma Anna Hughs, 95, a resident at the Biggs-Gridley area for over 60 years, died Wednesday evening at a Chico convalescent hospital where she had been a patient for four years.
She was born January 15, 1880 at Mason City, Iowa. She and her husband who preceded her in death in April 1942, resided on a ranch on Drake Avenue, east of Biggs, since coming to this area in 1912. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Gridley and made her home at 445 Haskell Street until 1971.
Survivors include a nephew, Cliff Burns of Gridley and nieces Mrs. Mildred Dockendorf of Chico and Margaret Koehler of Gridley.
Visitation is welcome at the Block funeral Home Saturday and Sunday until 9:00 p.m. each day Graveside services will be held at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Monday with Rev.
