Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Red Oak Grove church, with Rev. J. H. Rassmussen of Blooming Prairie officiating at the service and burial of Mrs. Julia Aldahl, who passed away Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Aldahl had been at the Austin Health Home since September 1928, for care and treatment.
Mrs. Aldahl had been ill for several years, first entering a hospital in Havre, Mont., but came to St. Olaf hospital here to be near her family and received every attention from July of 1926 until December of that year. She then went to Health Home where she remained until June 20, 1928. Mrs. Aldahl had been injured while on her way to Havre, and she never recovered from the injury. She was able to go to her home in Udolpho township, but only until in September of that year when she again needed constant care and treatment and returned to the Austin Health Home. Her passing brought relief from her long illness.
Julia Aldal (Aldahl), daughter of John and Synuva Knutson, was born in Dane County, Wis., May 25, 1851. When a child the parents moved to Iowa, near St. Ansgar, and Julia was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in that church in St. Ansgar. In 1872 she married Torkel O. Aldahl and they came at once to the farm home in Udolpho township where they remained until his passing on January 2, 1925. She spent a year in Kent, Washington, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Skagen and it was on her way home to this county, when she was injured , in 1926. Three sons and a daughter survive, John T. Aldahl of Owatonna; Susie Skagen in Kent, Wash.; Bennie O. and Marbo of Austin' Four children passed on some years ago, Serina, Julius, Theodore, and Roy. A brother resides at Lake Mills, Iowa, and there are five grandchildren, Cora, Hazel and Ruth Skagen, Torkel and James Aldahl.
Mrs. Aldahl was a patient sufferer and was one of the dutiful mothers to a large family, which is tribute to her.
