Charles Howard Knotts

Jackson County, W.Va. — CHARLESTON – Charles Howard Knotts, 82, of Charleston died September 9, 2010 at the Hubbard Hospice House following a brief Illness.

He was born October 24, 1927 in Minnora, the son of Howard and Vena Knotts. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School, Grantsville and served in the Air Force during World War II. He was an alumina of West Virginia University and Morris Harvey College. He was a life member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, active leader of cub scouts, boy scouts, and explorers. He was director of the Drivers License Division of the WV Department of Motor Vehicles, Accountant for Owens Libbey Owens Gas Division, Accountant and Purchasing Director for Devon Energy Corp. He attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Elkview, WV and was a lifelong member of his home church the Prudence Chapel at Minnora.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Geneva( Fowler) Knotts, parents, Howard and Vena Knotts; two sisters, Ruby Alexander and Opal Queen; two brothers, Victor and Walter Knotts.

Survivors include his dear and loving friend, Betty Snyder; son ,Charles Edward Knotts and his wife Gina Salmons-Knotts of Ripley; one granddaughter, Melissa Knotts of Charleston; one grandson, Douglas Knotts of Ripley; one great-grandson, Riley Knotts of Ripley; one sister Berdine (Knotts) Wayne and her husband Wheeler Wayne of Minnora; one brother, Eucle Knotts of Minnora.

There will be a private family memorial service.

The Knotts family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Handley Funeral Home in Danville WV.
