Betty Jean Young Elliott Knight passed away on October 5, 2011 in Dallas. A graveside service with Charles Kuhn officiating will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. in the Breckenridge Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. She was born August 13, 1930, in Spur, Dickens County, Texas, to parents Isaac Dewey Young and Mildred Roberts Young, grew up in Breckenridge, Texas, and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1948. She attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and Draughons Business College, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She married Robert F. (Bob) Elliott in Ft. Worth on May 2, 1953. They lived in San Angelo until he was out of the Air Force. At that time, they moved back to Breckenridge where their three children, Susan, Katherine (Katy) and Robert Ross (Bob), were born. The family moved to Irving in 1967. She was employed by John Deere Company in Dallas for 19 years until her retirement in 1986. She married Charles L. (Larry) Knight on September 8, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Carrollton where she was a member of Country Gals, Country Place Ladies Golf, Mobil Wives Club, and North Dallas Women's Club. Her favorite things were her family, friends, traveling with her husband to see the world, casino gambling, the theater, gardening, reading and playing bridge. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband. She is survived by her husband of 30 years; one brother, Robert A. Young, of Redondo Beach, California; daughter, Susan and her husband, Rick Stacy, of Marble Falls, Texas; daughter, Katy and her husband, Dale Keierleber, of Laguna Vista, Texas; son, Bob Elliott and his wife, Glynis, of Coppell, Texas; step-daughter, Teresa Knight of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Catherine and her husband, Darrell Seeds, of Cedar Park, Texas; grandson, Christopher Stacy of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandson, Warren Keierleber, serving in the U.S. Navy in Hawaii; grandson, Bryan Keierleber of Coppell, Texas; granddaughter, Denise Kellam of Ft. Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Rebecca Elliott of Ft. Worth, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Madison Kellam and Madeline Seeds; one great-grandson, Nolan Seeds; numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends. www.meltonkitchens.com
