She was born in the Black Forest area of Germany.
Came to the United States in 1852.She lived in Newark,New Jersey,until 1860,when she moved to Washington.The widow of Kasper Kneessi and one of the the organizers of the German Orphanage asylum at Anacostia.Mother of seven children,Augustus A.(Gus),Frederick W.(Fred),Mrs.Minnie Gassman and Mrs.Anna(Annie) Kelly,
Henry, Charles, and Sophie, as well as an unknown infant.
