Erna Minnie Knebel Bergmann, 94, widow of Otto A. Bergmann, passed away March 18, 2012 in The Care Center of Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, with Pastor Karen Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in La Bahia Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Foehner Funeral Home.

Erna Knebel Bergmann was born Sept. 23, 1917 in Burton to Otto Martin Albert and Laura Lina (Schindler) Knebel. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and attended Boundary School in her youth. She married Otto Bergmann on January 6, 1940, and the couple made their home in Washington County. Erna was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, where she was active in the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Fred H. and Verna M. Bergmann of Haughton, LA; daughter and son-in-law Carol Jean and Henry S. Hall of Burton; grandchildren: Matthew Bergmann and wife Lindy, Lisle Meador and husband Dustin, Sheila Muske and husband Bruce, Damon Hall and wife Marisol, and Dana Beck and husband Randy; great-grandchildren: Hannah and Andrew Bergmann, Abigail Meador, Mandy and Brandon Muske, Colby Beck and Isabella Hall. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and by sisters Nora Knebel, Lillian Knebel and Estella Knebel Schmidt; sister-in-law Sadie Bergmann, and brothers-in-law Harold Bergmann, Erhart Anton "Smitty" Schmidt, and Delfine Bergmann.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Muske, Damon Hall, Matthew Bergmann, Randy Beck, Kevin Knebel, and Brian Knebel.

Memorials may be directed to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, La Bahia Cemetery Assoc., or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
