Sandy area resident Irene Brinkman died Sunday, May 12. She was 92.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Sandy Funeral Home. A private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Irene Ellen Knapp was born March 15, 1921, in Stanfield to Guy and Ida Knapp.
On July 27, 1940, Irene married Charles Brinkman in Lewiston, Idaho. Irene worked as a bookkeeper for a construction company where Charles worked.
After retiring, they moved to Aurora. Irene remained in Aurora until 2008, when she moved to the Sandy area to be near her family.
Irene was a country music fan and collected CDs. She enjoyed sewing, sending greeting cards, collecting photos of family and friends, rock hounding and making jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her daughters, Charlene Netherland and Carla Christensen; son, Garry Brinkman; sister, Verla Frost; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
