Obituary from Tyler Courier-Times Telegraph, Sunday February 15, 1987:

RK Note:
Shelby learned to play the piano at a very early age and in addition to being the pianist for several churches, she played for many weddings and funerals. A very talented musician who taught private piano lessons for many years, she was the organist for Green Acres Baptist Church at the time of her death. For her entire life she truly made a joyful noise for the Lord. But she took the time to love her family and friends and be the best sister you could want. Her rendition of Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, When They Ring Those Golden Bells and many other old time favorites still lingers on in the memory of those whose lives she enriched by her musical talent.
