STAUNTON, VA…

Ruby (Kiracofe) Hunter, 95, widow of Thomas W. Hunter Sr., of 443 Glebe School Road, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her daughter’s residence in Staunton.

She was born March 1, 1920, in West Augusta, a daughter of the late George Newton and Edna Gertrude (Lambert) Kiracofe.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Hunter worked in the cafeteria at Beverley Manor Elementary School.

She was a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church, Churchville.

Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W., Jr. and Chris Hunter and Joseph and Debbie Hunter, all of Swoope; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Alex Woods of Swoope, Dianne Clifton of Churchville, and Yvonne and John Quick of Staunton; nine grandchildren, Debbie (Kevin), Teresa (Jeff), Christa (Rick), Allen, Sherri (Kevin), Jeremy (Becky), Tanya, Lori (Tommy), and Willy (Dannielle); six step-grandchildren, Hannah (Jesse), William (Shianne), Derek, Lori (Mike), Douglas (Catherine), and Kevin (Britta); 19 great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; a sister, Effie Pitsenbarger of Churchville; a sister-in-law, Edna Kiracofe of Churchville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters, and a grandson, Eddie Clifton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Bud Davis and Dennis Sites. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the funeral home and other times at 577 Parkersburg Turnpike, Staunton.
