Eva was born in Jasper County near Carthage, Mo., on June 30, 1914, to Glen and Matilda (Warden) Kinney. She lived most of her life in Newton County, Mo. The last seven years were spent in Mount Vernon, Mo.
Eva graduated in 1931, from Sarcoxie High School, and attended Teachers College in Springfield, Mo., where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in several one-room rural schools in Jasper and Newton Counties. Eva completed her bachelor's degree from SMS in 1956 and received a master's degree in 1966, from Pittsburg State University. She retired from the Diamond, Mo., School District in 1978, after completing 37 years of teaching.
After retiring, Eva enjoyed traveling and gardening. She was a past member and president of Delta Kappa Gamma, Diamond BPW and the Newton County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the West Union Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dana Joy; five brothers, Joe, Lee, Robert, Basil and Lloyd Kinney; and one sister, Lila Ferguson.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Cohu and wife, Barbara, Mount Vernon, and Alvin Cohu and wife, Linda, Rancho Palso Verdes, Calif.; four grandsons, Jeff, Eric, Cliff and Adam Cohu; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Cameron, Baylor and Cassie Cohu.
Services will be Friday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. at Clark Chapel of Memories, Neosho. Larry Carlisle will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, northeast of Diamond.
