Wife of Paul Emmor Kingsbury. Daughter of George Wignall and Anna Wiseman

Chariton, Iowa
Tuesday, September 9, 1975

Alta Jane Wignall Kingsbury, daughter of George and Anna Wignall, was born at Toledo, Iowa on July 12, 1888 and departed from this life while a resident of the Chariton Manor on August 10, 1975 at the age of 87 years and 29 days.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a charter member of the Methodist Church at Traer, Ia., where she held continuous membership until her death.

Alta graduated from the Traer High School with the Class of 1907. After her graduation, she accepted employment as a telephone operator at Reinbeck, Ia.

On January 14, 1920 she was married to Paul Emmor Kingsbury, her loving husband, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1961. To this marriage were born two sons, Paul E. Kingsbury Jr., and Donald B. Kingsbury, both of Chariton, who survive her.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Carl (Mildred) Burmeister of Waterloo; two daughters-in-law, Darlene Kingsbury and Joan Kingbury of Chariton; four grandchildren, Craig Kingsbury of Julesburg, Colo.; Mrs. Gary (Kyle) Stansbery; Bruce Kingsbury and Kevin Kingsbury of Chariton; one great-grandchild, Nathan Kingsbury of Julesburg, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Paul, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank Wignall and Harry Wignall and one sister, Nellie Wignall Ashbaugh.

In 1931, along with her husband and two sons, she moved to Chariton where they owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store on Iowa Avenue until 1961 when they retired.

In 1967 she was presented a pin to signify fifty years of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, which she treasured.

Funeral services were held at the Fielding Funeral Home at Chariton on August 13, 1975 with the Rev. J. Edward Quick of the First Baptist Church of Chariton officiating, who was her regular spiritual counselor during her last years.

Alta was laid to her final rest at the Chariton Cemetery. She will be truly missed by her family, other relatives and her many friends.
