Mrs. N. K. Alderdice succumbed to illness of several weeks at St. Francis hospital at Burlington, Saturday morning, September 30, 1916, at 6:15 o'clock, aged 36 years, 5 months and 7 days.
Elizabeth King was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin King and was born near Bonaparte, May 23, 1880. She was united in marriage to N. K. Alderdice at St. John's parsonage at Houghton June 21, 1908. Her husband being a traveling salesman, the family spent the first two years of their married life in Oklahoma City, Okla., one year at Cherokee, Okla., two years at Witchita and the past two years were spent at Burlington. Here she won many friends who will regret her early passing and whose sympathy will go out to those who mourn. She is survived by the husband N. K. Alderdice, a young son who is known as N. K., and a baby daughter, Marie Louise. Also by one sister, Miss Regina King of West Point, and six brothers; A. M., D. A., and I. H. King, all of West Point, M. A. King of Des Moines, T. F. King of Osceola, Mo., and Ed King of Fonda, Iowa.
Death in this instant is a rather sad one as she leaves an infant daughter of but three weeks of age. Mrs. Alderdice was a frequent visitor to West Point and numbered many warm friends here and who extend their tenderest sympathies to the bereaved husband and other members of the family.
The remains were brought to West Point Monday morning and friends were permitted to take the last look of one they had loved in life. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church at 9:30 o'clock. Rev. Father Grothe officiated and many were present at the last sad rites. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
Those present from a distance were; T. F. King of Osceola, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Roy Cook and wife, Mrs. Arthur Dempsey, Mrs. Fred Welt, Mrs. J. King, Fred Thie and Harry Nelson, all of Burlington, G. A. Morehouse, M. E. McCullough, James Johnston, J. E. Elliott, all of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Alderdice, P. G. B. Murray of Ottumwa, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Crawford of Middletown, C. A. Weber and wife and Miss Margaret Meek of Keokuk, Robert Meek, Miss Jennie Ripplin, P. M.
