Rev. Carlos McKinley King, age 90,
of 1165 Lexington Commons, Asheboro died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Sunset Avenue Church of God, 900 Sunset Ave., Asheboro with Pastor J. C. Miles, Rev. Tommy Fuquay, and Bishop Tommy McGhee officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro.
Rev. King was born on June 17, 1919 in Ararat, VA to Samuel W. King and Jettie Mae Gammons King. He received his Divinity Degree from Holmes Bible College, his Bachelor of Arts Degree from High Point University, and his Masters of Education Degree in Education and Counseling from UNC-Greensboro. He was a retired Minister and Pastor in the Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 65 years, a retired Guidance Counselor at Eastern Randolph High School, and a retired Chaplin at Randolph Hospital. Carlos was a charter member of Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church and a lifelong member of Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Evans King of the home; daughter, Priscilla Ruth King Mace and her husband Kenneth D. Mace of Lexington, NC; grandson, Keven McKinley Spargo and his wife Helen Spargo of Graham, NC; brother, Warren Garland King of Nashville, TN; sisters, Lena King Connally of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mildred King Cox of Stuart, VA, and Arlene King Chitwood of Ridgeway, VA.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.
