Mildred was born on June 1, 1916, in Frankton to the late Chester and Ruth (Braddick) King. Mildred married Kenneth H. Abernathy and he passed away on Jan. 25, 1995.
Mildred retired in 1978, from Stevens Springs of Elwood and formerly Noblesville. She was a member of East Main Street Christian Church of Elwood, Frankton Christian Church, and Elwood VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family and extended families.
Mildred is survived by her sister, Betty Paddock of Frankton, and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Norman King and James King; and a sister, Jean Ann Swinford.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana, with the Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the K. of P. and I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to East Main Street Christian Church.
