Lorraine O. (Kincheloe) Benson was born May 27, 1911, to John T. and Cordelia M. (Core) Kincheloe in Laclede County near Lebanon, Missouri. Her early childhood was in the Ozarks then the family moved to Oklahoma. In 1923 her father wanted to return to farming so the family of six put all their possessions in a Model T touring car with the dog on the fender, ending in Mondamin, Iowa. Lorraine married Philip H. Benson on July 4, 1929, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. They started their married life with a trip to the Black Hills and Yellowstone Park. With the exception of seven years, when they lived on the Willow on the Johnson farm, they resided on the Benson family farm north of Magnolia. Lorraine worked for the Logan Creamery, Dayhuff Chevrolet, and the Harrison County Treasurer. Philip passed away on August 30, 1962. Lorraine moved to Logan, Iowa in 1968 and remained there until she entered Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley on December 5, 2005.

Lorraine died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Longview Nursing Home at the age of 98 years and 28 days.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip Benson; two brothers and their wives, Earl and Emma and Edd and Beulah Kincheloe; one sister and her husband, Lois and Roland Geith; granddaughter, Cheryl Collison; three sons-in-law, Robert Collison, Richard Southern, and Roy Stadler. She is survived by her son, Gene (Janice) Benson of Logan, Iowa; three daughters, Lois Mae Collison of Blencoe, Iowa, Marilyn Southern of Denver, Colorado, Shirley Stadler of Blair Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
