Bok Kimball, 60, Dies Suddenly At Home Today

Bok Kimball, 60, head of Rogers-Wade Manufacturing Company, 95-year-old furniture business here, died unexpectedly at home, 1003 S. Main St., Monday at 8:00 a.m.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home by the Rev. Wesley V. Hite of First Methodist Church. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery.

Surviving are Mrs. Kimball, the former Miss Mary Caldwell; a son, Bok Kimball, Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. W. H. Ayers, Jr., both of Paris, and two sisters, Mrs J. Floyd King, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Iler Adams, Dalsetta. Another son, Lt. Sidney Caldwell Kimball, U. S. Navy, was killed in action near Leyte, Oct. 24, 1944.

Bok Kimball was born at Brookston, June 26, 1890, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Kimball.

He was employed for a time as shipping clerk for the Long-Bell Lumber Company at Yellow Pine, La., before going to work for Rogers-Wade Furniture Company here. He started to work at the factory as timekeeper, April 11, 1911; by July 5 that year, he had been made assistant factory superintendent. He later became superintendent of the plant.

Having acquired an interest in the corporation which then included retail business here, he became vice-president in February, 1939.

When this corporation was dissolved, Herbert Ordway acquiring the retail store, Mr. Kimball became a partner and general manager of the newly-designated Rogers-Wade Manufacturing Company, June 1, 1943. The business has been in continuous operation longer than any other in Paris, having been established here in 1856 by the late J. W. Rogers.

Mr. Kimball was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Rotary Club.

Pallbearers will be John D. House, Dr. J. L. Jopling, Herbert Ordway, R. O. Murphy, Ed Ivey and John Lentz
