She was born Oct. 29, 1917, in Seville, the daughter of John and Susanna (Burckhart) Kilmer, and was united in marriage to Norman D. Begly on Feb. 12, 1941, in Rittman. He passed away Oct. 8, 2011.
She was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, and had worked as head cook at Glendora Nursing Home, near Wooster, for 15 years.
She was a member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church near Smithville and participated in the Women's Sewing Group at the church. For many years she made quilts for her children, grandchildren, relief auctions and volunteered at the M.C.C. Thrift Store in Kidron.
Surviving are children, Karen (Terry) Cowan of Bend, Ore., Louise (Richard) Crilow of Fredericksburg, John (Doris) Begly of Smithville, and Merle Begly and his friend, Joanne, of Wooster; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Rodney Crilow; brothers, Edwin, Henry, and David Kilmer; and sisters, Emma Martin, Melissa Horst and Ruth Kilmer.
Services will be Monday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home, 512 E. Oak St., Orrville, with pastors Doug and Miriam Zehr officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, near Smithville.
