Daughter of Henry Lexington Tynes and his second wife Anne Caroline Powell, of Chuckatuck, Nansemond County Virginia. She married Wallace Kilby in Nansemond County January 14, 1868 after his return from his Civil War duties. They lived in Suffolk City where he was a retail merchant, dry goods store. Their children were: Carrie Spotswood Brown (1868-1912); Wallace Richardson Kilby (1871-1944); Clinton Maury Kilby (1874-1948); Blanche Kilby Bell (1877-1966); Bruce Tynes Kilby (1881-1903).
