Rose V. Beard, 79, was ushered into heaven by the Lord's angels on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from her home with family by her side. She was the wife of the late John Beard. Born on September 6, 1932, in Rockingham, Va., she was the daughter of the late Virginia (Mussetter) and James Keyton. Mrs. Beard was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest legacy was her love for her family and friends. She was a generous, caring lady who touched many. She will be deeply missed. She was fondly known as "NeNaw", "Nanna", "DeMaw", and "Betty Boop". She attended Vander Ave. Church of God. Rose leaves to cherish her memory seven children and their families, Kenneth Hanson of Maryland, Theodore Clark, Jr. of North Carolina, Rebecca A. Gillespie, Daniel Clark, and Rachael Kleiser, all of York, Richard Clark of Stewartstown, and William "Billy" Clark of York; 53 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five siblings, Evelyn Thompson and Ollie Mae Henshew, both of West Virginia, Margie Edgington and Esther Clark, both of Virginia, and Joyce Keaton of York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Beard; a sister, Peggy Wise; and a brother, Steve Roadcap. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York. The service will begin at noon with Pastor Detter officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
