Lena M. Grammer, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 4:41 P.M. on Friday, December 14, 2012, in her home. She was born on January 7, 1933 in Marion, Illinois to the late Carl Kendall and Pauline (Booth) Johns. Lena attended the Illinois School for the Deaf, and worked for over twenty-five years in the laundry department at Howard Regional Hospital, retiring in the late 80's. Lena married William E. Grammer on August 23, 1952 and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2007. She was a member of the Kokomo Deaf Club, and a local bowling league. She enjoyed traveling a lot with her husband, William. Their travels took them as far as California, and often lead them to a casino and slot machines. Lena also enjoyed activities at home, such as crocheting and cross-stitch. Most importantly, Lena always spent time with her family, as they were very dear to her.

Lena is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Kevin "Mike") Bitner; grandchildren, Stacy (Rick) Bitner, Brian Bitner, Erica (Brady) Bitner, Troy Grammer and Sarah (Devin) Grammer; great grandchildren, Blake, Gavin, Madyson, Landon, Kendall, Bradon and Little Brady, along with many others that affectionately knew Lena as "Grandma Grammer." Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Grammer; a brother, William Kendall; a brother-in-law, Richard Grammer; and sisters-in-law, Mary Grammer and Peggy Hughes.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Grammer; son, Thomas Grammer; and a brother, Ralph Lee Kendall.
