Florene Kemp was born in Gorman, Texas, on Aug. 22, 1925, to parents George Lawson and Kinnie Elizabeth Kemp. She was raised in Desdemona, Texas along with her three brothers and two sisters.
Being a child of the Great Depression era, she became skilled in many trades from lending a helping hand to her family. The mentality of working together and serving others was a trait Florene never lost. After graduating from Goldthwaite High School, Florene met the love of her life in a handsome young gentleman named Ervin Bradley. The two lovebirds were married on Jan. 26, 1946. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Pat and Jerry. Almost anyone who has shopped in Brownwood would recognize Florene's sweet smile from her work in retail at JCPenney or Bealls. Although the thought of retiring may have crept into her mind a few times, she was still working hard at Bealls into her final days. She was given the President's Award in sales, and took great pride in her accomplishments within the store.
Florene was an active member of First Baptist Church Brownwood and the Priscilla Sunday School Class. Her passion for outreach was exhibited through her commitment at the Good Samaritan.
Florene is survived by two children and daughter-in-law, Pat Price and Jerry and Cynthia Bradley; grandchildren, Todd Price, Cammye Price Schwing and husband Steve, Kent Bradley and wife Jessica, and Taryn Bradley; great-grandchildren, Candyce, Joshua, and Caitlyn and Bradley and Kade; brothers and sisters-in-law, W.M. and Merle Kemp and James and Faye Kemp; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her love, Ervin Bradley; three sisters and one brother; and two grandchildren, an infant grandson Ronald and Jerrod Price.
