PEORIA - John Theodore Kellem, formerly of Peoria, Ill., died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in Mountain Home, Ark., at the age of 78.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Kirby and Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Richard Kellem officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.
He was born in Mountain Home, Ark., son of William and Helen Kuehner Kellem. He married Florean Farris on April 7, 1951, in Mountain Home, Ark., and he worked as a millwright for Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville. John lived in Mountain Home, Ark., since 1982, moving from Peoria, Ill.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, tinkering in his barn, had a great sense of humor, and was hard working, compassionate and dedicated to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John Kellem is survived by his wife, Florean Kellem; two sons, Kenneth (Renee) Kellem of Pekin, Ill., and John Edward Kellem of Sparland, Ill.; one daughter, Carol Ann (Roy) Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Leonard (Betty) Kellem of Mountain Home, Ark.; four sisters, Eileen Wallace of Los Angeles, Calif., Blanche Gilley of Tulsa, Okla., Evelyn Gilley of Yellville, Ark., and Nadine Kellem of Mountain Home, Ark.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Ark.
He was born May 26, 1931 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
