Estelle "Sis" (Keefe) Beck, 89, of Aurora, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at her home. She was born February 21, 1911 in Maple Park, IL, the daughter of Preston and Lula (Bennett) Keefe.
    She was educated in the elementary and high school in Maple Park and Northern Illinois State Teachers College in DeKalb. Sis was a member of the Maple Park Methodist Church.
    At the age of 21, she was appointed Postmistress at the Post Office where she had worked part time during her school years.
    On November 2, 1935, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Kermit C. "Red" Beck. They made their home in Elgin, where she worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory.
    Moving to Aurora in 1942, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was employed in the offices of Block and Kuhl, later becoming Carson Pirie Scott and Co., from where she retired after 25 years. For a few years, she housed student teachers from the West Aurora Schools. Later she was employed at St. Clair's Draperies and Images on Video. Sis also was a volunteer at Copley Hospital, Wesley UMC and an aide at McCleery School.
    Survivors include her son, Steven (Juanita) Beck of Aurora; four grandchildren, Douglas Beck of DeKalb, Brian (Kim) Beck of Oswego, Robert (Sarah) Beck of North Aurora and Robin (Keith) O'Neill of St. Louis, MO; seven great grandchildren, Jordan and Nicholas of Oswego, Nathan, Kyle and Madeline of North Aurora and Taylor and Parker of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, all of who she loved very much.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her eldest son, A/3C Kermit C. "Rocky" Beck, Jr.; three brothers, Cullen, Stanley, and Frank Keefe; and two sisters, Audrey Olsen and Jeanne Severson.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2000 at 10 a.m. from Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St., Aurora, with Rev. Fredric W. Lippert officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, September 29, 2000 from 3 -8 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora. There will also be visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.
