Louis Anton Kappes, 96, Ada, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1993 in Wimmer Nursing Home in Ada.


Louis Kappes was born April 11, 1897, the son of William Sr. and Mary (Dries) Kappes, in Ashton, Iowa. He attended school in Iona, Minn. In 1914, his family moved to rural Ada. He married Florence Boerger. Jan. 9, 1930 in ada, where they farmed until 1954. He was a farm Laborer until his retirement in 1976. Louis moved to Wimmer Nursing Home in 1979. Florence died in February 1993.


He is survived by sons, Virgil, Waubun, Minn., Norbert and Chester, both of Minneapolis, Russell, Green bush, Minn., Vernon, Thief River Falls, Louis Jr. and Benno (Reenie), both of Brainerd; a daughter, Dianne (Mrs. Terry) Patterson San Jose, Calif; and sister, Rose Ebbers, Slayton Minn., 39 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by sons Nicholas and James; a daughter, Marcella, brother, Anton, William Jr., Herman, Benno and Felix; and sisters, Mary (Mayme) Platt Cecelia Wagner.


Services: 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ada.


Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service, in the church. Arrangements are with Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada.


Burial: Ada City Cemetery.
